Tyykiblues programme in 2011
Summer 2011 sees us celebrate the 18th Tyykiblues festival with a raft of talent from across the blues world. From England we welcome Britain’s finest female blues vocalist Connie Lush. Joining us direct from Pårnu Blues the unforgettable Scottish slide guitarist Dave Arcari. From Cameroon via Paris we bring you the amazing African sounds of the Roland Tchakounte Trio. From Finland the original Micke and Leafy Feat will entertain you with a unique combination of blues, soul and gospel. The delightful Sweet Jeena & her Sweethearts join us from Tampere to add a rock ‘n’ roll, Rockabilly flavour. One of the most important Finnish rautalanka bands of their generation, The Potatoes, will be in Forssa once again to sooth your soul.

Tyykiblues the only international Blues festival in Finland!
Summer 6.8.2011 Tyykiblues is a musical mix of four nationalities from England, Scotland, Cameroon and Finland representing six different styles of blues for your enjoyment.
Connie Lush

Direct from Liverpool, England comes Connie Lush and her band. Connie is considered one of the best blues artists in Britain and has been voted best female blues artist in Blue Print-magazine’s reader competitions six times. The French blues association has twice voted her best blues artist and she was voted business-woman of the year 2010 in Liverpool. As well as writing and composing her own songs, Connie also writes music for television series. This will be Connie Lush’s first visit to Finland.

Roland Tchakounte
Arriving from Paris and originally from Cameroon come the Roland Tchakounte trio playing blues with a strong African sound. His first two first albums were recorded in Cameroon but after discovering the music of John Lee Hooker and Ali Farka Toure he found a wider audience. Despite a variety of influences he has kept his own musical style with African diembe drums adding colour to his music. Roland has played all over the world including Africa but as far as we know this will be his first visit to Finland.

Dave Arcari
Scottish slide-guitarist and singer songwriter Dave Arcari arrives in Forssa direct from Pärnu Blues-festival. Arcar’s music is a combination of rough delta-blues and rock-punk- flavours. His stage performance is an unforgettable experience. Dave has visited Finland several times and his latest album, Devil’s Left Hand, was released autumn 2010.

Micke & Lefty feat. Chef

The Finnish band Micke & Lefty feat. Chef includes singer-harpist Micke Björklör,guitar sorcerer Ville Leppänen and basist Miika ”Chef” Kivimäki. Their programme includes blues as well as soul and gospel. They play their own songs and their speciality is three-man stemma singing. Their latest album, Up The Wall, was released and distributed throughout Scandinavia in 2010. The band also represented Finland at the first ever Berlin European Blues Challenge in the middle of March receiving enthusiastic feedback.

Sweet Jeena & Her Sweethearts
Sweet Jeena & Her Sweathearts is a Tampere bascd rock’n’roll-americana-band, whose music is influenced by rock’n’roll, rockabilly and rhythym’n blues. Their fast paced, high quality music shows feature Jeena Rancken as Sweet Jeena. Their first album, Rock’n roll picnic, was released in 2009.

The Potatoes
The Potatoes are one of Finland’s most important rautalanka bands playing instrumental music. The band has released three albums: Round The World(2003), Hot Potatoes (1997) and This is Potatoes (1994). Mikko Lankinen plays guitar, Antti Ahvenainen organs, Kimmo Lehtola Bass guitar and Jari Hirvonen drums. The band has visited Forssa before having played earlier in the Forssa Motor Enthusiasts’ rautalanka parade.
